Serving: 4 burgers
Ingredients:
For patties:
2 slices of any bread
1/3 cup milk
1 tablesp olive oil
1 brown onion, finely diced
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 small carrot, grated
1 kilo beef mince
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 egg
extra olive oil for cooking
For assembly of burgers:
4 hamburger buns
soft butter or margarine spread
4 crisp lettuce leaves
1 tomato, sliced
4 slices canned beetroot
4 slices cheddar cheese
4 bacon rashers, cooked to slightly crispy
Mayonnaise
Method:
Break bread into small chunks and place into a bowl with milk and olive oil. Let stand 5 minutes until bread has soaked up the liquids and become soft. Add onion, garlic, carrot, beef mince, parsley, and egg to the bowl and mix with the hands until well combined. Divide into 4 and shape into 4 patties. Heat a splash of olive oil in a pan and cook patties approximately 5 minutes on each side until cooked through.
Cut each bun in half. Spread bottom half with a little butter or margarine. Stack lettuce, beef pattie, 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice of beetroot, 1 slice of cheddar cheese, and one bacon rasher onto each buttered bun half. Spread mayonnaise on the top half of each bun and place on top of the stack. Serve.
